Meet Katie

Director of Theatre Activities

Katie enjoys instructing theater and establishing a secure environment where children and young adults can freely explore their creativity.

Katie's Story

Katie is an actor and performer in the Pittsburgh area. She holds a bachelor's in Theatre, Musical Theater from Indiana University of PA and is looking forward to continuing her education in the future. She is also an Accent Music Academy alum!

In her time at IUP, Katie studied classical and mixed vocal techniques under the direction of Dr. Mary Logan-Hastings as well as music theater coaching with Dr. Oliver Lo, Director of Music Theater. While there she performed in many mainstage productions such as, The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee (Olive Ostrovsky), Lizzie Borden (Emma Borden), and Pippin (Catherine). She was fortunate enough to participate in many musical theater intensive classes and workshops.

Over the last few years Katie has been studying the correlation between acting techniques and cognitive neuroscience. Influenced by Richard Kemp, author of Embodied Acting, whom she studied Stanislavski, Chekhov, and Shakespeare under.

Her deep love for teaching and ongoing research drive her to harness her discoveries in ways that champion the belief that the performing and musical arts contribute positively to the social-emotional and developmental growth of both children and adults.
